Latex vs Hybrid Mattress

“Latex” usually describes a comfort material. “Hybrid” describes a mattress that combines a foam/latex comfort system with a coil support core. A mattress can therefore be both latex and hybrid.

All-latex mattress

An all-latex mattress uses latex through both the comfort and support system, though covers and batting may use other materials.

Latex hybrid

A latex hybrid uses latex above a coil core. Signature Bliss is one example.

What changes in practice

• All-latex beds eliminate the metal coil core.
• Hybrids often have stronger edge structure and more open internal airflow.
• All-latex designs may allow layer rearrangement on some models.
• Weight can be substantial in both categories.
