Natural Latex vs Synthetic Latex
Natural latex is made from rubber-tree sap; synthetic latex is produced from petrochemical-derived polymers. Blended latex combines the two.
Natural does not automatically mean organic
Natural latex describes material origin. Organic latex is a narrower claim that requires certification such as GOLS. A mattress can use natural latex without that latex being certified organic.
Why manufacturers blend latex
Formulation choices can target consistency, cost, durability and feel. The label alone does not tell you how a finished layer will perform.
How to shop
Ask for the latex type, processing method, certification and layer thickness. Those details are more informative than a vague “eco” label.
